Who you're buying from
This site is operated by Tom's Woodshop, a sole trader trading in the United Kingdom. Contact: tom@tomswoodshop.co.uk. A geographic trading address is available on written request to that address.
Tom's Woodshop is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged and prices are the total payable.
Prices and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling and include no VAT. Delivery is shown separately at checkout. Payment is taken at the point of order by card through Stripe, on Stripe's own secure checkout page. I never see or store your card details.
For company orders I can invoice instead, on standard terms, by arrangement.
I try hard to keep prices accurate. If an item is listed at an obviously wrong price because of an error, I'll contact you before doing anything and you can confirm the order at the right price or cancel it for a full refund.
Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when I confirm the order by email. For engraved or personalised items, the contract is confirmed when you approve the proof.
Everything on Ready Now is a single item. If two people order the same piece within moments of each other, the first payment to complete takes it and the second is refunded in full immediately.
Personalisation and proofs
For engraved work you'll be sent a digital proof showing the artwork, its size and its placement. Nothing is cut until you approve it in writing. On orders of ten or more, or any logo I haven't cut before, I'll make and photograph one piece first.
You confirm that you own or have permission to use any logo, image or wording you ask me to engrave, and that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights. I may decline to engrave anything I consider offensive or unlawful.
Once a proof is approved, responsibility for spelling, dates and artwork sits with you. Read it carefully — it's the whole purpose of the proof.
Lead times
Lead times shown are honest estimates, not guarantees, and reflect the fact that this is work done in evenings and at weekends. If a date matters to you, tell me before you order and I'll say plainly whether it's achievable. If I can't meet a date I've agreed, you can cancel and have your money back.
The nature of what you're buying
Every item is made by hand from natural timber. Colour, grain, figure and weight vary between pieces, and photographs are of the actual item or of a previous example, not a promise of an identical copy. Small tool marks and the seasonal movement of solid wood are characteristics of hand-made work rather than defects.
Cancellation, returns and faults
Set out in full on Delivery and Returns, which forms part of these terms.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, my liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Items are sold for their ordinary domestic purpose; boards are for food preparation, bowls are for dry goods and fruit, and none of it is designed to bear structural loads.
Complaints and disputes
If something has gone wrong, email me and I'll do my best to sort it out directly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the protection of your local law.
