Ballpoint Pen
A twist ballpoint turned from the solid hardwood of your choice and shaped to sit comfortably in the hand. The fittings are 24 carat gold plate. It takes a standard Cross-style refill, so replacements are easy to find. It comes in a kraft gift box, or for £10 more in a solid hardwood box made to fit it, with a magnetic lid that snaps shut, in oak, walnut, cherry or sapele, with its lid engraved free if you like.

You have picked a dark hardwood. Any engraving may show up as more of a shadow that catches the light than a dark line. It is there, but it may be subtle.
You have picked a hardwood with a lot of character. Any engraving may get lost in the natural beauty of the wood, which may make it more subtle than on other pens.
Grain
